What it measures
School-age cognitive ability across three areas - verbal reasoning (V), quantitative/numerical ability (Q) and figural/nonverbal reasoning (N) - interpreted through the Berlin Intelligence Structure processing-capacity model.
Length and format
9 subtests across the V, Q and N parts; each part administrable in one 45-minute period, ~2.5 hours in full. multiple-choice ability; group administered (performance/ability test)
Language versions
German adaptation of the American Cognitive Abilities Test (Thorndike & Hagen); used in DE, AT and CH. No wide independent translation programme.
