Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test, Fifth Edition.
PPVT-5
- What it measures
- Receptive (hearing) vocabulary in Standard American English; used as an index of crystallized verbal ability (Gc) and as a language screening measure.
- Length and format
- ~240 items per form in age-based sets (Forms A and B), administered with basal and ceiling rules. multiple-choice ability (point to one of four pictures) (performance/ability test)
- Language versions
- Adapted rather than directly translated in most markets: Spanish parallel Test de Vocabulario en Imagenes Peabody (TVIP), British adaptation BPVS-3 (GL Assessment), French adaptation EVIP. A translation count is not meaningful for a picture-plate test.
- Normative data
- No normative data held in our reference library for this instrument. That is a statement about our library, not about the published literature.

Choosing between this and the alternatives
We do not deliver this instrument. If you are selecting a measure for a research programme, a national survey or an assessment product, and the question is which instrument, in which language, against which norms and under which licence, that is the work we do.
