Schwartz Value Survey.
SVS (SVS-57)
- What it measures
- Schwartz theory of basic human values: 10 motivationally distinct value types (Self-Direction, Stimulation, Hedonism, Achievement, Power, Security, Conformity, Tradition, Benevolence, Universalism) on a circular continuum, summarised by 2 higher-order axes (Openness-to-Change vs Conservation; Self-Enhancement vs Self-Transcendence)
- Length and format
- 57 value items (45 enter the 10 value indices; ~12 additional items aid standardisation). rate importance of each value 'as a guiding principle in MY life' on a 9-point scale (-1 opposed to my values, 0 not important, to 7 of supreme importance) (self-report questionnaire)
- Language versions
- Authorised versions in dozens of languages (the Schwartz value repository lists many); used in 80+ countries; e.g. ES, FR, DE, IT, PT, NL, RU, PL, ZH, JA, HE, AR, plus BCMS

Choosing between this and the alternatives
We do not deliver this instrument. If you are selecting a measure for a research programme, a national survey or an assessment product, and the question is which instrument, in which language, against which norms and under which licence, that is the work we do.
